Xiao Hong Pao and Da Hong Pao differ only by their first character, meaning small and large. As the small Hong Pao or red robe, this picking of mid-roasted wuyi oolong tea can be described as the little brother of the King of wuyi oolong teas. For flavor and complexity this does not mean all that much, as the Xiao Hong Pao has a range of delicate floral qualities that are unique to this picking. We have actually experimented quite a bit with this tea by brewing it slightly lower temperatures to yield an emerald-amber infusion that was surprisingly so good we had to get more of it. Definitely an impressive and well-priced Wuyi oolong tea
