Weight loss and dieting is a topic that comes up very frequently with those interested in tea culture, and as a result we try to address it as accurately as possible.

In Chinese medicinal tea culture Pu'er tea is thought of as both a diuretic and also an excellent way to help digest after a big and greasy meal. So naturally, we are inclined to support the general theme surrounding Pu'er as a great weight control tea. Darker oolongs like many Wuyi oolongs seem to have an excellent feel-good effect that is similar to many pu'ers when consumed with or after a big meal. This certainly doesn't prove one over another, but our recommendation is more about approaching teas (and all tea varieties as well) with an eye towards incorporating it into your everyday lifestyle. This is more likely how any benefits are achieved. The comfort of drinking these teas surrounding meals or even while simply relaxing does a great deal in keeping digestion and general health in check. Our belief is much more aligned with the concept that the way the body digests the food we eat has an enormous effect on what parts of these foods will be absorbed by the body, and how efficiently they will be absorbed. If tea's main effects can mostly related to the digestion process then we suppose it is working in the right spot.

While the study of tea and dieting is far less in-depth than we would like to see, its most obvious effects on the way we all feel after drinking it must stand for something. These feelings are so commonplace in the tea-drinking community that there is little dispute among such health and dieting claims. In fact our experiences are so strong and widespread that most tea-industry people develop cravings after big meals for specific teas that we know will best regulate our bodies and make us feel refreshed. So again, tea is not about dieting, but more about overall lifestyle.
